Frequently Asked Questions
What does War Child do?
War Child works exclusively to improve the psychosocial wellbeing of children affected by conflict. We empower children in everything we do. We work to unleash their inner strength through our creative and engaging approach.
We deliver vital child protection, education and psychosocial support. We are present in countries where violence and armed conflict are a fact of life. We work together with caregivers and communities - as well as other NGOs and local organisations - to strengthen the resilience and psychosocial wellbeing of conflict-affected children.
Every one of our programmes is backed by evidence and research - to ensure maximum impact. We work to inspire our partner organisations and other NGOs - both globally and locally - to adopt these proven interventions so we can reach as many children as possible.
Everything we do has a lasting impact and helps children build a better future - both for themselves and their communities. More on our mission

We strive to ensure everything we do has maximum impact. Our organisational structure is lean and agile. And our low-cost policy ensures all funds go to the right place. Our integrated programmes empower children to shape their own future - and focus on three core areas.
- We provide psychosocial support to enable children to process their conflict-related experiences.
- We deliver education to empower children to build a better future - both for themselves and their community.
- We protect children from violence in (post-) war areas.
Further details on how we spend our annual income can be found in our Annual Report.

Is War Child’s creative approach effective?
Our proven interventions are evidence-based and backed by research and development. We continually reflect on our work and take into account feedback from participants in our programmes as well as parents, caregivers and teachers. All of this ensures that our various interventions are effective.
