War Child has been directly supporting children in Afghanistan since 2002.

What we do

In light of the recent crisis, we are scaling up our life-saving work to protect, educate and provide for more children and families than ever before.

We started our activities in the city of Herat, in the Western region, implementing food security and livelihoods projects with internally displaced families. Later, we expanded to the eastern and central regions to cover three key areas: protection, education and cash relief - as well as broader issues like advocacy and gender discrimination.

We support children like Madina to achieve their dreams through capacity building and child protection activities.

We provide support and care to displaced children and their families.

Income supporting activities prevent young people from travelling abroad in search of labour.
