Our Mission
We are War Child
Around the world, hundreds of millions of children are living with the effects of war and conflict. Separated from their homes, schools and loved ones, many are overwhelmed by manifestations of distress.
Our mission is to shape the systems that protect and support the wellbeing of children affected by conflict. At War Child we believe we have the unique skills and capacities which will be highly relevant in creating these changes.
We are recognised for our sector expertise in mental health and psychosocial support, education and child protection, and we have a deep-rooted commitment to evidence-based work – delivering services that are backed up by rigorous research.
We are a rights-based organisation - which means we also advocate with and on behalf of children to ensure their fundamental rights are upheld.
Our Strategy
Taking insights from children, the evidence about what works, and what might happen in the future, we have developed a bold and ambitious strategy that gives War Child the best chance of maximising our impact on the issues which matter most to children over the next 10 years.
To effect these changes in our sector, we have agreed to focus on four key strategic pathways which will deliver the changes over ten years. These pathways build on our existing strengths and values and support each other to achieve combined impact. They include:
- Research for change
- Scaling
- Programme Engagement
- Advocacy
Annual Plan 2026
In 2025, we worked hard to respond to the changes in the aid sector, to understand how we could grow our impact in a new version of the humanitarian economy.
2026 is the year where we move forwards, aligned on our a new partner-led strategy, and our ambitions to bring high quality care within the reach of millions of children
