Advocacy

Putting children’s rights and voices at the heart of decisions is central to our commitment to ensure no child is a part of war.

Children’s rights are routinely violated in conflict

Children living through conflict face violence, displacement and disruption to their education, safety and wellbeing. Their voices are too often left out of decisions that affect them, the services they rely on are underfunded, and those who violate their rights too rarely face accountability.

Ukraine's youth are not waiting to be rescued; they are leading the way themselves.

Our advocacy priorities

We put children’s voices at the centre

We support children and young people affected by conflict to research the issues that matter to them, develop solutions, and influence decision-makers. Through our youth-led programme VoiceMore, we provide the tools young people need to lead their own advocacy. We train, fund and step back.

We demand accountability

We campaign for governments and armed groups to uphold their obligations to protect children under international law. We work to ensure that children affected by conflict can access their rights, and that those responsible for violating them are held accountable.

We influence systems to work better for children

We work to make sure children’s needs are reflected in the policies, funding and programmes that affect their lives. We push for sustained investment in education, child protection, and mental health and psychosocial support, to help children stay safe, learn and recover from conflict.

Our VoiceMore programme

VoiceMore is War Child’s youth-led advocacy programme methodology, which supports young people to identify the challenges they and other children and youth face in the regions and country where they live, and to undertake advocacy action that brings about positive change within their communities and beyond.

New War Child report warns aid cuts are leaving children unprotected

A new report from War Child Alliance warns that deep cuts to humanitarian funding are leaving millions of children without access to life-saving protection, education and mental health and psychosocial support. At the same time as these cuts are widening the gap between children and critical support, conflict and violations against children are rising worldwide.
